| Welcome
to Higgins Beach, one of Maine's best kept secrets. Small and quiet, with
a spectacular 1/2 mile beach, it's only a short drive to Portland and
its popular "Old Port" restaurants and shops.
With its silky sand
and smooth expanse at low tide, the beach is framed on one end by the
Spurwink River and Cape Elizabeth, and on the other end by rocky outcroppings
and tidal pools harboring crabs, starfish and other ocean treasures, to
the delight of generations of children. Beyond the cliffs one can see
Scarborough Beach and Prouts Neck.
What you can't see
is how close our cottages are to the beach. There are just 3 houses between
you and the ocean. It's also just a short walk to the Higgins Beach General
Store or the Higgins Beach Market. Garofalo's Restaurant in the Higgins
Inn is another favorite spot.
